Partiture is a new series of work by Emilia Telese, exploring rhythm, performance, painting and human relationships.
It makes use of performance documentation and images of moments of the artist’s private life as a starting point to create visual notations of images and colours, iterated into mathematical patterns and repeated to form immersive environments.
Each set of notations, or partiture, is then manipulated with paint, recalling Telese’s long-term interest in Renaissance iconography. Partiture continues Emilia Telese’s work on performance-driven patternised images and immersive environments, started with Scents of Self (2018), rooted in her long standing use of performance, classical proportions and life-as-art.
